Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr did little to hide his true feelings regarding Donald Trump’s resounding win over Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election.
Ahead of the Warriors faceoff with the Boston Celtics on Wednesday, Kerr informed reporters that he was accepting the results of the election despite being an avid supporter of Harris. “I believe in democracy,” he began.
“The American people have spoken and voted for Trump. I want him to do well the next four years, I want our country to do well.”

Yet moments later, Kerr took an unsubtle dig at Trump and his previous false claims that the outcome of the 2020 election was illegitimate. “I’m just thankful there wasn’t any voting fraud this time,” he said sarcastically. “Last time, all those illegal immigrants who crashed the border, raped and murdered people, and then voted six times, that was unfortunate.
“But thankfully, this time, everything was clean. It’s great that every election has been really valid except for that last one four years ago. Twinkle in my eye as I say that in case you couldn’t see it.”
Kerr didn’t stop there, later joking about the message he delivered to his players following the election outcome. “I just told them let’s make America Great Again and beat the Celtics tonight,” he said with a wide grin.

On a more serious note, Kerr wished Trump good luck over the next four years even though he doesn’t see eye-to-eye with the U.S. President-elect. “I believe in democracy, I believe in the will of the people, and I’ll do everything I can to support my country and our government,” Kerr added.
“And I want nothing but the best for us. It’s a complex world. We’ve got a lot of interesting stuff between wars abroad and the global economy that has shifted everything in terms of what it means for our citizens and their day-to-day lives.
“I’m well aware I live in a bubble and I’m one of the luckiest people on earth. So I want what’s best for us and I hope Trump can deliver it.”
This isn’t the first time that Kerr has blasted Trump for spreading misinformation regarding alleged voter fraud. Speaking to reporters ahead of election night, he said: “The biggest thing that will come out of tomorrow will be election integrity – which has never been a thing in my entire life until Donald Trump decided that it was going to be a thing.
“In order for our democracy to thrive, not only do we citizens have to take part, but we also have to trust that these elections are not tainted, which they aren’t.”
“There’s been all of these lies that have been spread over the last eight years about election integrity,” Kerr continued. “People have been fooled into thinking there’s irregularities. It’s the most important part of a democracy, is for people to trust the election system.”
