Actor Matthew Perry – Chandler Bing series “Friends” – apologized for saying he wanted Keanu Reeves to die instead of his best friend. According to CNN, the Friends series star said in a press release on October 27: “I am actually a big fan of Keanu Reeves. When I wrote the book, I just randomly picked a name. That was my mistake and I apologize. I should have used my own name in those passages.” Perry refused to answer further questions from the media. Keanu Reeves kept silent about the noise with his colleagues.
Perry recently took a surprising swipe at Keanu Reeves in his autobiography Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing – scheduled to be released in November. The Friends star began by recalling the story of the late 1980s, when he collaborated with the late actor River Phoenix – Reeves’ close friend – on the film A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon. The two gradually became close friends while filming in Chicago.
In the book, Perry said he was heartbroken when he heard the news of Phoenix’s death from a drug overdose in 1993. “He was a beautiful person, both physically and mentally, too beautiful for this world. I feel like the truly talented people are often the ones who go early… Why do people with different thoughts like River Phoenix, Heath Ledger die. Meanwhile, Keanu Reeves is still walking around among us.”
Perry continued to attack Keanu Reeves in the segment about the death of his colleague Chris Farley. “I punched a hole in the wall through Jennifer Aniston’s dressing room when I heard that Farley died of a drug overdose (in 1997).
