Paris Jackson and music producer Justin Long have ended their engagement just eight months after announcing it.
The daughter of the late Michael Jackson addressed speculation on Thursday, July 31 with a direct post on X, formerly Twitter. In response to paparazzi photos showing her visibly emotional, Jackson wrote: those are breakup tears. yall are fkn reaching again.
The social media post came shortly before confirmation that the couple had called it quits. Jackson, who recently lashed out at fans, revealed in December that Long had proposed during a romantic trip to Paris, France. She shared a carousel of photos from the moment on Instagram, calling it a whirlwind of emotion and joy.
Doing life with you these last years has been an indescribable whirlwind and I couldn’t dream of anyone more perfect for me to do it all with, she wrote at the time.
The now-canceled engagement reportedly began in 2022.
Long, a Los Angeles-based songwriter, producer, and audio engineer, had kept a relatively low public profile during their time together, but frequently collaborated with Jackson on music and supported her live performances behind the scenes.
Jackson, a model, singer, and actress, has been steadily building her career in entertainment, releasing solo music and performing live across the U.S.
Long has production credits with a number of independent and mainstream artists and was instrumental in co-producing several tracks on Jacksons last album.
As of Thursday afternoon, Jacksons X post had been viewed more than 43,000 times.
“People forget youre human too. Whatever youre going through, sending you strength and peace. You owe no one an explanation. Stay strong the storm will pass, and light always finds a way,” one fan commented on Twitter.
Another added, “Owe you so much Paris, sending you all the love and healing! <3”
A third wrote, “I’m so sorry the media is still hounding you for ‘stories,’ you deserve so much better :(”
“I’m sorry you have to deal with people photographing you all the time,” a fourth sympathized.
Jackson was seen visibly emotional during a solo walk in Malibu on Wednesday.
Jackson, dressed casually for the warm weather, wore a brown short-sleeve shirt, gray biker shorts, gray socks, and chunky sneakers.
In June, she faced backlash from fans for performing on the anniversary of her fathers death, June 25, a choice that some criticized as insensitive.
