Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, a one-hour film made by Expectation for BBC One and iPlayer, will air on the 18th of August at 9pm
As Ozzy Osbourne’s son finally breaks his silence following the release of his cause of death, The BBC has revealed the broadcast date for their documentary about the Black Sabbath frontman, which pledges to deliver a heartfelt and uplifting portrayal of the rock icon’s final years.
Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home, a one-hour production created by Expectation for BBC One and iPlayer, will premiere on August 18th at 9pm.
The touching and motivating story of Ozzy’s last chapter will unfold through exclusive and personal access to the entire Osbourne clan, featuring Sharon, Jack and Kelly. It will tell the tale of his final weeks prior to his death on July 22, which was officially revealed to be due to acute myocardial infarction, out of hospital cardiac arrest, coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s Disease with automatic dysfunction.
This follows Sharon Osbourne’s emotional breakdown at Ozzy’s funeral in devastating footage.
The documentary, shot across three years, documents the remarkable ups and downs of their journey as they fulfill their ambition of relocating back to the UK, reports the Mirror.
The project was initially planned as a series called Home To Roost, designed to highlight Sharon and Ozzy’s return to the UK, which was revealed in 2022.
Nevertheless, as Ozzy’s condition unfortunately declined, the show transformed into the documentary, Coming Home.
Viewers will witness the Black Sabbath legend fighting to become strong enough to take the stage one final time – as he amazed audiences at Villa Park just weeks before his tragic death.
Hinting at what audiences can anticipate, Clare Sillery, BBC Head of Commissioning, Documentaries, states, “We are honored to have had the opportunity to film with Ozzy and his family.
“The film captures an intimate glimpse into their journey as they prepare to return to the UK. It features family moments, humor, reflection and shows the enduring spirit that made Ozzy a global icon. We hope it brings comfort and joy to Ozzy’s fans and viewers as they remember and celebrate his extraordinary life.”
Supporters can anticipate love, laughter and tears, along with memorable scenes from the Osbourne clan, who have appeared on our television screens since 2002.
The announcement arrives soon after the father-of-six’s death certificate disclosed that Ozzy passed away from an ‘acute myocardial infarction’ and ‘out of hospital cardiac arrest’.
However, Ozzy’s admirers were more fascinated by the administrative specifics of the certificate. The official paperwork lists the late star’s profession as “songwriter, performer and rock legend.”
