Meet Lilica, a street dog who was abandoned in front of a junkyard in one of So Paulo’s worst neighborhoods. Many homeless people and animals live here, including dogs, cats, and chickens, all of whom are joined in their poverty and doing their best to support one another.

She treks 4 kilometers each night across lonely and dangerous roads to the home of animal lover Lucia Helena De Souza, who provides her a food bag. After that, she returns to the junkyard to bring food for the rest of her ‘family’ — a dog, a cat, numerous hens, and a mule, all of whom have grateful hearts.
Lover of animals Lucia saw Lilica for the first time three years ago as the dog was looking for food near her home. Lucia fed the dog, and the dog continued back every night to get her ration. They developed a regular routine: Lucia would make an extra piece for Lilica, and they would meet at 9 p.m. to share hugs, cuddles, and a hot dinner.
She saw Lilica looking at the bag of food instead of finishing it one night. Lucia closed the plastic bag, and Lilica grabbed it and walked away as usual after a few seconds. Lucia followed the dog and discovered something that touched her heart: Lilica shared food with her family even when she was hungry.
The dog has been doing this for three years, and even after being adopted, she returns every night to feed the other animals. She only wants to make sure that no one goes hungry. What a fantastic story!
