Los Angeles Sparks star Cameron Brink left her fans gutted at her Christmas wish following a difficult year.
The Sparks forward captured the attention of fans as she uploaded a different festive post to the majority of her WNBA colleagues. Brink endured a frustrating first season in the league after being drafted as the second overall pick following her brilliant college years at Stanford.
Brink suffered a season-ending knee injury during the Sparks game against the Connecticut Sun on June 18. The 22-year-old underwent surgery after diagnoses found she had torn the ACL in her left knee and she is yet to return to action as she misses the inaugural Unrivaled season.
Taking to Instagram on Tuesday, Brink uploaded several pictures of her posing in a high-cut black turtleneck mini dress with black tights and a pair of black stilettos. But it wasnt her outfit that caught the eye among WNBA fans as she captioned the post: All I want for Christmas is a healthy knee.
Her fans soon took to the comments section to jokingly make her Christmas wish come true. You can have my knee, my ACL, take it all, one user wrote. You can have my knees, take everything, a second quipped. While a third also echoed the jokes, adding: I just called Santa for you dont worry.
Despite her time on the sidelines, Brink was added to the Unrivaled 3×3 womens basketball league as a wildcard pick for the Lunar Owls but she will not make her debut until next season. Brink is still undergoing rehab on her knee which has seen her contract uniquely structured.
Her multi-year deal with the Owls will see her take to the court in 2026 given the launch of the league in January makes it impossible for her to return to action in time. “Cam Brink is UNRIVALED,” a post on the leagues social media page read. “Filling the first wildcard spot with a multiyear deal with the Lunar Owls. She will take the court in 2026.”
Brink explained that her godbrother, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry, was a key figure in her decision to join Unrivaled. “When the league was just forming, we did chat about it – and year, I think Steph is in full support of it,” she told People. “He thinks it’s a great idea and he knows I love the round three basketball.”
Joining the 3×3 basketball league will not be a new experience for Brink with her a member of the United States 3×3 team in the past. Brink took home MVP honors in the FIBA 3×3 World Cup in 2023. However, her ACL injury meant that she missed out on the 2024 Olympic gold medal team. Brink was selected for the US 3×3 team in Paris but was unable to take her place in the squad.
