Marilyn Manson’s Unexpected Presence at Ozzy Osbourne’s Private Farewell: A Controversial Moment in Rock History
In an unexpected turn of events, Marilyn Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, was spotted at the private funeral of rock legend Ozzy Osbourne. This somber gathering took place on July 30, following Osbourne’s passing at the age of 76 just a week earlier on July 22. The intimate ceremony was held in Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom, and drew attention not only for its mournful atmosphere but also for the notable personalities who attended. Alongside Marilyn and his photographer wife, Lindsay Usich, other rock icons like Ozzy’s lead guitarist Zakk Wylde and Slipknot frontman Rob Zombie were present, each paying their respects to the late artist.
However, the response to Marilyn’s involvement was far from warm. According to reports from The Daily Mail, his virtual tribute was met with boos, revealing stark division among fans. The collective sentiment on social media was quite unkind, with many users expressing their disgust at his presence. One individual shared their outrage on X, previously known as Twitter, stating, “Eurgh Marilyn Manson making an appearance on the Sabbath stream. F— that guy he’s a piece of s—.” Another follower tweeted, “Ew, Marilyn Manson go away,” while a third chimed in with, “Marilyn Manson on the Black Sabbath stream f— off.”
The intense backlash directed toward Marilyn is largely tied to the serious sexual assault allegations he has faced. Several women, including his former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood and actress Esmé Bianco, have accused him of sexual assault and abuse over the years. These allegations have cast a long shadow over his career, leading to widespread criticism and derision from fans.
In January, however, a significant update came from the Los Angeles County District Attorney, Nathan J. Hochman, who announced that Marilyn would not face criminal charges stemming from the investigations into these allegations. Hochman explained that the claims fell outside the statute of limitations, stating, “We have determined that allegations of domestic violence fall outside of the statute of limitations, and we cannot prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt.” He continued by acknowledging the bravery of the women who came forward, praising their courage and resilience in sharing their experiences and navigating the legal process.
Marilyns lawyer, Howard King, expressed satisfaction with the decision, asserting that Marilyn is innocent of all accusations. Marilyn has consistently denied the allegations against him, defending his reputation vehemently. In 2022, he even filed a defamation lawsuit against Evan, who was notably much younger than him when their relationship began, but he ultimately dropped the suit in November, agreeing to cover her legal fees in the process.
