New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has faced his share of physical challenges this NFL season. Over the course of just six weeks, he’s been featured on the team’s injury report multiple times, first with knee and ankle issues. His ankle injury, in particular, came after a rough twist during a loss to the Minnesota Vikings in London, which raised concerns about his durability at 40 years old. Now, a new injury has been added to the list.
This week, interim head coach Jeff Ulbrich revealed that Rodgers is now dealing with a hamstring injury that “flared up” during the Jets’ recent 37-15 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
According to Ulbrich, the hamstring issue may have affected Rodgers’ mobility during the game, which could explain some of his struggles against Pittsburgh’s defense.
Although Ulbrich downplayed the severity of the hamstring injury, the accumulation of ailments on Rodgers’ body at this stage in his career is certainly concerning.
As one of the oldest starting quarterbacks in the league, Rodgers’ ability to remain healthy is crucial to the Jets’ chances of making a playoff run. Even minor injuries can add up quickly, affecting performance and recovery time, especially for a player coming off a significant injury like the Achilles tear he suffered last season.
Rodgers’ return to form after the Achilles injury has been slower than anticipated. In six games this season, he has completed 61.7% of his passes for 1,663 yards, with 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
These numbers, while respectable, are far from the elite production the Jets need to stay competitive, especially as they look to climb out of a 2-4 hole.

The hope is that the arrival of star wide receiver Davante Adams, whom the Jets acquired in a mid-season trade, will give Rodgers a much-needed boost.
Adams and Rodgers previously formed a dynamic duo with the Green Bay Packers, and reuniting in New York could reignite Rodgers’ performance. However, Adams will need time to acclimate to the new system, and there’s no guarantee the partnership will yield immediate results.
Rodgers’ age, combined with the growing list of injuries, raises questions about how much longer he can perform at the highest level. While his experience and leadership are invaluable, it’s clear that the physical toll of the season is already taking its toll.
For the Jets, who entered the season with playoff aspirations, Rodgers’ health will be a key factor in determining whether they can turn their season around.
With the Jets already battling through a difficult season, the news of another injury to their star quarterback adds to the mounting pressure. If Rodgers isn’t able to stay healthy and lead the team, New York’s playoff hopes could quickly slip away.
