Following Udonis Haslem’s retirement from the Miami Heat in July, Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James has now become the oldest active player in the NBA. When asked about starting his 21st season, “The King” had an entertaining response.
James, 38, made a quirky hand gesture in front of his face before executing a spectacular dunk. It’s safe to say that the four-time NBA champion won’t have a typical season for a player in his 21st year.
In his 21st season, Vince Carter averaged seven points per game – an impressive feat in league history. Meanwhile, James averaged 30 points per game in his comeback season, so similar expectations can be set for him at age 38.

On his social media accounts, James shared the video with emojis depicting the same funny expressions from the original clip.
James had considered retirement after the 2016–17 season, as it was the first time in his career that he felt inadequate. However, shortly after, he announced his return, explaining that coaching his sons during the summer reignited his passion for the game.
Most of the Lakers squad from their Western Conference Finals loss to the Denver Nuggets has returned, with the addition of key players like center Christian Wood.
James and his team are now considered frontrunners for the championship and will kick off their season on October 24 in Denver.
