Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ season is officially over after the Saturday night loss to the Baltimore Ravens, it’s time to look to the 2025 offseason, where the Steelers will try to improve their roster, both in free agency and the NFL draft.
Assuming both head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan keep their jobs, which is expected, Pittsburgh’s first order of business will be to decide what to do at quarterback, where Russell Wilson is no longer a lock to return.
On top of having to figure out who will play quarterback, Pittsburgh needs to address the running back position with Najee Harris likely gone. And, the Steelers need to add more help at wide receiver, and they have some areas to address on defense, also.
One avenue the Steelers will explore to fill their needs and bolster the roster will be the 2025 NFL Draft. Now that the Steelers have exited the playoffs in the wild-card round, we have a range for where their first-round pick will land.

Teams that get eliminated in the wild-card round land somewhere in the 19-24 range. However, with three other 10-7 teams having a chance to be eliminated moving forward, the Steelers’ actual range is 19-22.
Record tiebreakers are determined by regular season strength of schedule, so teams with a lower strength of schedule get the higher pick.
With the 2025 NFL Draft having a weak quarterback class, chances are the Steelers won’t be taking one in the first round, which means their 2025 solution will come in the form of a veteran signing, whether that be bringing Wilson back or going with someone else. Of course, Pittsburgh could take a signal-caller in the later rounds, but it’s doubtful said quarterback would be ready in Year 1.
With the draft not beginning until Thursday, April 24, the Steelers’ needs could change drastically between now and then. However, as of right now, addressing cornerback or wide receiver makes the most sense in the first round.
