The ‘Monday Night Football’ crew was given a tomahawk steak  and Jason Kelce was quick to get his hands on the meat.

Before the San Francisco 49ers’ 40-34 loss to the Detroit Lions at Levi’s Stadium, Kelce and the rest of his cohosts were attempting to break down the NFC title game rematch. While they were doing so, each member was given a massive tomahawk steak to eat.

Upon receiving his steak, all Kelce could muster was: “Oh my Lord,” as he longingly looked at the massive piece of meat now in his right hand. The Philadelphia Eagles legend then asked if he could it right then and there before Michelle Beisner-Buck could even get a word in.

After Kelce bit into the steak and proclaimed how hot it was – especially considering it came straight from the grill – the 37-year-old was then told: “Don’t eat that, don’t eat that.” As the panel described how the meat taste, Kelce said: “It’s unreal.”

Fans on social media made light of Kelce’s enjoyment of his steak. “Jason Kelce may not let go of [the] tomahawk steak all night,” one fan wrote on X.

Another fan posted, claiming Kelce’s suit and how he was eating the steak likened him to a fierce dinosaur. “Only Jason Kelce could wear a red suit while eating a ribeye steak with the ferocity of a velociraptor,” the fan stated.

However, some fans were not too pleased to see the Eagles legend on their screens, believing the network is force-feeding the Super Bowl champion. “I generally like Jason Kelce, but he does not need to be everywhere and in everything,” an irate fan posted.

Despite how some fans view Kelce’s presence on ‘Monday Night Football,’ the Eagles legend made sure to make a fan’s night. As fans tailgated before the 49ers took on the Lions, Kelce spotted a young fan and serenaded the young fan, singing Happy Birthday along with the rest of the crowd.

Once the game started, the 49ers were quick to take the lead against the Lions, with star quarterback Brock Purdy finding rookie wideout Ricky Pearsall in the endzone to give San Francisco an early lead. Of note, it was Pearsall’s first touchdown since the 49ers November matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Additionally, 49ers star tight end George Kittle notched the fourth 1,000 yard season of his eight year career with San Francisco. The 31-year-old previously reached the mark in 2018, 2019 and 2023, with Purdy looking to the veteran as the 49ers look to upset the Lions.

However, it was not enough as the Lions continued to find ways to counter any punch the 49ers threw. Detroit’s star quarterback Jared Goff led the way, completing 26-of-34 pass attempts for 303 yards and three touchdowns.
