After the Dallas Cowboys edged out the Washington Commanders in a 34-26 matchup deemed one of the most crazy games in NFC East rivalry history, former NFL tight end and FOX analyst Greg Olsen struggled for words like the rest of America at the mind-blowing finish. All he could say after was, “I’m speechless. I don’t even know what to say.”

Cowboys-Commanders featured a heavy dose of late-game scoring, with five touchdowns in the fourth quarter, including a 99-yard kickoff return by KaVontae Turpin, a missed game-winning extra point, and an onside kick returned for a touchdown. The first half of the game did not indicate the chaos to come and at halftime, the teams were tied 3-3, with neither team managing to establish much offensive momentum.

By the end of the third quarter, the score was 10-9, with the Cowboys clinging onto a slim lead. Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels turned on the action in the closing quarter with an 86-yard bomb to Terry McLaurin, as fans screamed while the WR fled down the sidelines.

The celebration was short-lived as kicker Austin Seibert missed the extra point, keeping the Commanders one-point lead. “Oh my gosh. They dropped 11 guys in coverage, if they just tackle him in bounds, the game is over,” said Olsen.

Dallas responded immediately with Cowboys safety Juanyeh Thomas scooping up a failed onside kick attempt and sprinting 44 yards into the end zone, sealing the game for Dallas. With less than 10 seconds remaining, Commanders running back Austin Ekeler exited with an injury, forcing the offense to rely entirely on Daniels.

The rookie QB’s desperation heave down the right sideline was intercepted by Cowboys cornerback Israel Mukuamu as time expired, officially ending the crazy game. Olsen was completely baffled at the finish afterward.

Olsen used his voice to speak for all viewers at the end of the game when he said, “I’m not even sure what we just watched. The impossibility of all of this happening… for this finish to be possible,” he questioned.

Both teams were on special teams throughout the game. Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey missed two of four extra points and had a 35-yard field goal attempt blocked in the first quarter. His 42-yard effort ricocheted off the right upright on the following drive.

Seibert missed a critical 51-yard field goal earlier in the game, and his missed extra point on McLaurin’s touchdown ultimately cost Washington the chance to tie. The loss was the third in a row for the Commanders as Dallas broke its five-game losing streak in the process.
