A wild trade rumor involving Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford made waves online on Tuesday, but as expected, the rumor turned out to be completely false. The buzz started when an unreliable source claimed that the Rams and the Minnesota Vikings were in talks about a potential trade involving Stafford and Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold.
Stafford, a seasoned veteran with a Super Bowl victory under his belt, is known for his big contract and leadership in Los Angeles. Darnold, meanwhile, is a former high draft pick who struggled with the New York Jets but has been experiencing a career resurgence with the 5-1 Vikings this season.
Despite the dubious origin of the rumor, Vikings beat reporter Ben Goessling took it upon himself to investigate further. After checking with a trusted source, Goessling confirmed that there was “zero truth” to the trade speculation, putting the rumors to rest.
While the timing of the rumor was notable, as the Vikings and Rams are set to face each other on Thursday night in Week 8, there appears to be no foundation for the idea of a trade between the two teams.

The Rams have reportedly been open to trading Stafford in the past, but this summer, they restructured his contract to keep him satisfied heading into the season.

However, for now, Stafford remains firmly in Los Angeles, and any talk of a trade to the Vikings appears to be nothing more than idle speculation.
