Boxing legend Mike Tyson could face a ban from the sport if he fails a drug test, following his admission that he might smoke cannabis in the lead-up to his fight with Jake Paul later this year.
The much-anticipated match was originally scheduled for earlier this summer, but ‘Iron Mike’ had to delay his comeback due to an inflamed ulcer. Despite being ordered by his doctor to halt training, Tyson has since returned to the gym and is confident he’ll be ready to step into the ring later this year.
The showdown between these two heavyweights is slated for Friday, November 15 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where up to 90,000 fans are expected to attend. Tyson’s last professional fight was back in 2005 when he was defeated by Kevin McBride.

His most recent bout was a closed-door exhibition match against fellow boxing great Roy Jones Jr in 2020. Paul, meanwhile, beat former UFC fighter Mike Perry in his last match in July.
Tyson recently revealed that he struggled to walk after completing six rounds of sparring, raising concerns about his health ahead of the upcoming fight. The American boxer has openly admitted to being a ‘junkie’ and previously confessed to daily marijuana use and micro-dosing magic mushrooms to aid recovery between sessions before his last fight with Jones Jr.
In a shocking revelation, Tyson claimed that he was even high during the fight itself. During an amusing exchange on Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Mike Tyson raised eyebrows when asked if he plans to be high for his match against Logan Paul.
He responded: “I’m going to be so high off life, yeah.” Pressed further by Kimmel about possible marijuana use, the boxing legend didn’t shy away, admitting: “That’s a possibility, too.” Kimmel humorously quipped: “Oh no my bet is getting lower as we talk.”

The lighthearted interview might have been all in good fun, but it does bring up valid questions about adherence to regulations. In the event that ‘Iron Mike’ decides to indulge before throwing punches with ‘The Problem Child’, he could face punitive action from the Texas Commission given marijuana’s inclusion on the prohibited substances list.
According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR): “If either combatant were to test positive for a banned substance, we would open a complaint, put them on a 90-day suspension and if the combatant were the winner, the decision would be changed to a no-decision because of a rules violation.”
Tyson’s work ethic may be in question after a shocking confession suggested he might not be all that serious about his upcoming fight. In a conversation with Jimmy Kimmel, ‘Iron Mike’ alleged he was putting in six hours of training each day.
“I am training extremely hard, I do six hours a day. I start at 11am and might leave the gym at 5pm,” Tyson declared. A bewildered Kimmel responded, “Oh no. 11am? So that’s six hours straight, or is there a lunch break? ” To which the ex-champion conceded there’s indeed a minor pause, prompting an astonished reaction from Kimmel: “Oh no.”
